Talk on pines at first meeting of 2014

Chris Xepapas gave an excellent talk and demonstrations on pine at the Society's first meeting of the year, held on 18 February 2014.

Pines, and other conifers, are often thought to be difficult subjects for bonsai, especially for beginners. However, it was obvious from the reaction to the talk, that many members will now see these trees as being less intimidating and will be considering adding a few to their collection.

Chris is a relatively new member of the Society but he has a wealth of bonsai experience, especially with conifers. The photograph shows one of Chris' Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris).

At this rate, we may soon have to look for a larger venue!

 Spring show a big success

The Society’s Spring Bonsai Show was held at the Rosny Barn on 19-20 October 2013.

Over 60 excellent trees were on display and attracted many positive comments from the hundreds of visitors over the weekend.

The Sales Tables did a roaring trade selling trained bonsai, starter trees, pots and various equipment.

Over the weekend, there were 6 demonstration sessions by Ambrose Canning, Tony Hewer, Noel Kemp and Chris Xepapas. These were very well received by beginners and experts alike.

Photographs from the Exhibition can be found on the Galleries page.

The Society's next show will be held in Autumn, 2015.
