Meetings & Workshops
The Bonsai Society of Southern Tasmania meets on the third Tuesday of the month from February through to November.
Meetings are held at the Bellerive Community Arts Centre (17 Cambridge Road, Bellerive 7018) and start at 7.30 pm. You are welcome to attend as a guest before joining the Society. See the Membership page for further information about benefits to be gained by joining the Society.
At the monthly meetings, members display trees and exchange ideas and advice. Often, there is also a demonstration of a particular bonsai technique.
The Society also holds 10 workshops each year. Members work on their trees and share knowledge and ideas. The Workshops are usually for members only; non-members may attend one workshop. They are held on a Saturday or Sunday at the Cambridge Hall, 989 Cambridge Road, Cambridge 7170. There is a charge of $4 for each workshop
The Society mounts a exhibition, which is open to the public, every 18 months. This year we are holding an Autumn Exhibition at the Rosny Barn adjacent to toe Eastlands Shopping Centre, Rosny on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 April 2018.

At each meeting, members are encouraged to bring along some trees for display. Three may be selected for a brief detailed critique.
Each meeting lasts approximately 2 hours; the normal schedule will be:
20 mins - general business;
20 mins - looking at trees on display table;
15 mins - critique of three trees;
45 mins - talk and demonstration; and
20 mins - refreshments and tidying the venue.
